What’s new and noteworthy this week in the engineering and design world? At Draper Aden Associates, we’re following these stories and think you should too!

Lasting, Positive Impact

It feels fantastic when we achieve our goal of making a lasting, positive impact in the communities in which we work and live in. It’s even better when we are recognized with a prestigious award such as the 2016 Pinnacle Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia. Read more about the preservation of a beloved community landmark, the East End Theater of Richmond, at http://www.acecva.org/2016-pinnacle-award-winner.

A Close Up From Space

Bright colors can always be counted on to grab children’s attention and a larger than life satellite map with enhanced hues is getting the attention of little ones at the Blacksburg Children’s Museum.  The geospatial display is part of an exciting new weather exhibit in development. Partnering with the museum and the College of Natural Resources and Environment at Virginia Tech, DAA sponsored the development of the map.  http://wvtf.org/post/you-are-here-new-childrens-exhibit-blacksburg-examines-landscape-and-temperature#stream/0

Current Legislation Status

The Virginia General Assembly is in the 2016 Regular Session and, as usual, we are posting legislation that is currently under consideration. Professionals in the Environmental, Stormwater Management, Solid Waste and Water and Wastewater fields will be very interested in these ever-changing topics. We will update our lists every Monday until the end of the Session on March 12.  To access these legislative updates, please visit /legislation and click on the Legislation link
