The project, located on 473 acres of environmentally sensitive land on the James River, is one of the finest examples of sustainable design and was the first project in Virginia to receive a LEED Platinum certification. Emory and Henry Stream Stabilization

[metaslider id=4334]   Highlights Location Emory, VA Project Manager(s) Carolyn Howard, PE, LEED AP Services Provided Environmental Engineering Stormwater Management Completion Date 2014 Located in Southwest Virginia, Emory and Henry College (EHC), a small private college whose entire campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is home to the Hall Creek basin, part of the Holston River Watershed. Since the college’s founding in 1836, Hall Creek has experienced an increase in periodic flooding and erosion associated with the increased development of the college campus and concurrent changes in land use. Given that Hall Creek runs through the central portion of campus, it impacts numerous campus facilities, and is itself impacted by storm water runoff from adjacent parking lots, road culverts, sidewalks and multiple athletic fields. Our specific scope of services for this project included grading, drainage, utility design (for water, fire, and sewer), environmental impact reporting, erosion and sediment control, and construction phase services. The site design portion of this project was fast-tracked and involved a site demolition/design plans. The constructed building contains an auditorium, a lecture hall, nine classrooms, and serves as office space for the School of Social Work and the Department of English. Rehrig International Manufacturing Facility

RI operated a nickel-chromium metal plating and plastic extrusion facility in Chesterfield County, between 2001 and 2008. In 2008, the facility was ordered to be shut down. The owner of the property subsequently entered into a Consent Agreement with EPA to remove hazardous wastes and other materials from the property. On behalf of the Owner, Draper Aden Associates directed the EPA removal action and provided a broad spectrum of services to the facility. These services included assisting in negotiating a Removal Action Consent Agreement with EPA, serving as liaison between the owner and various local agencies, preparing inventories and assessments of hazardous wastes, managing the cleanup of the property, conducting post-closure assessment, assessing risk to human health as attributed to...

Gypsy Hill ESAs

[metaslider id=4798]   Highlights Location Staunton, VA Project Manager(s) Mike Lawless, PG Services Provided Environmental Engineering Grant/Funding Assistance Completion Date 2012 Draper Aden Associates assisted the City of Staunton towards their goal of restoring Peyton Creek in Staunton, Virginia to improve the creek’s water quality, strengthen the City’s green infrastructure, encourage desirable redevelopment, provide scenic areas and conserve natural resources. Draper Aden Associates performed Phase I and Phase II ESAs on a portion of the project area known as Gypsy Hill Place where Peyton Creek flows through buried piping. The ESA evaluated the environmental condition of the subject site and provided recommendations for management of identified fill material. The ESA work was completed under a VEDP/DEQ grant, which Draper Aden Associates assisted the City in obtaining. The design completely replaced the existing building systems, added a 27,000 square foot building extension, related infrastructure and landscape improvements in Capitol Square. The project was designed to meet current programming needs, addressed the 2007 statewide celebration plans, and extended the useful life of the historic Virginia State Capitol. Draper Aden Associates assembled complete base mapping for the Capitol Square, including some subsurface utility verification and supplemental ground surveys. Construction and CQA Services: Henrico County utilizes its internal construction services team to provide daily inspection services for all of its construction projects. Landfill Gas Services: Henrico County generates revenue from an agreement with a landfill gas (LFG)-to-energy vendor, Ingenco. Town of Pulaski Brownfields

The grant proposal was successfully approved for expanded program funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, in the amount of $200,000. Subsequent to procurement, Draper Aden Associates was awarded a contract by the Town to begin the process of evaluating existing Brownfields sites for reuse as public facilities and/or for redevelopment as viable residential, commercial, industrial or mixed-use properties.
